Cisco CCNA (ICND 1, ICND 2)

Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA] program prepares the students for the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size networks including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a Wide Area Network [WAN]. CCNA curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills. This program also includes (but is not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2), VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs).
You will do hands-On labs utilizing the latest Cisco Routers and Switches [Cisco 2811 Routers, Cisco 2960 Switches]. You will also receive guidance on free CCNA LAB simulator software for home Lab.

Course Objective:
Upon completing this course, students will be able to meet these objectives:

• Describe how networks function, identifying major components, functions of network components, and the OSI reference model

Course Goal
“To install, operate, and troubleshoot a medium-sized network, including connecting to a WAN and implementing network security”

5 weeks [40 hrs]. There is also 40 hours of home study.

Course Objective:
Upon completing this course, students will be able to meet these objectives:

• Review how to configure and troubleshoot a small network
• Expand a small-sized, switched LAN to a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree
• Describe routing concepts as they apply to medium-sized network and discuss considerations when implementing routing on the network
• configure, verify and troubleshoot OSPF
• configure, verify and troubleshoot EIGRP
• Determine how to apply ACLs based on network requirements, and configure, verify, and troubleshoot ACLs on a medium-sized network
• Describe when to use NAT or PAT on a medium-sized network and configure NAT or PAT on routers, and explain IPV6 addressing and configure IPV6 in a Cisco router
• Identify and implement the appropriate WAN technology based on a network requirements

Attendance
Good Attendance is imperative in order to keep up with your classes and to maintain good standing in school.  Since this institution is a business college, we encourage students to always conduct themselves in a professional manner and develop a positive attitude toward consistent attendance that can be carried with them in to the business community.  Absences should be documented in writing upon the first day of return.

Assignments/Projects/Exams
All school work activities/exercises and reading assignments are to be done as per instructors orders, and will be due upon request.  All tests are timed and must be completed within the specified time given.

• Make up work will be accepted, without penalty, with and excused absence.
• A grade of no more than 90% will be given for all work that is one day late.
• No work will be accepted after 3 days late and a grade of 0% will be assigned.
• Exams may only be made up the day of return from an excused absence with a grade of no more than 90% given.
